Social Spring Cleaning
Happy April to you!

As I sit here writing to you, the sun shines, illuminating warmth on my face. It gives me the feeling of promise that we are embarking on a new season of opportunity and growth.

Last month, I shared my personal challenges and traumas during covid, which kept me off social media. I made a vow to myself years ago If I wasn't "feeling" the desire to post. I would not post for the sake of posting. This is coming from someone who has been involved in social media heavily for the last fifteen years. It has been life-changing and was the impetus to create my Social Media Agency, Pink Dreams Inc. So, I am grateful for social. Yet, I stand firm on my holistic beliefs; I won't fake ANYTHING when it comes to social—not posting, not buying followers or loop shortcuts, etc.

Outside of my own physical and mental health issues, I found social to be just LOUD. I don't wish to be told what to do, that I am wrong in feeling "this," or that "my ways" are wrong. Note, I believe that everyone has a right to their thoughts, feelings, and opinions. Still, social was not servicing me in the ways it had in the past, of the morning daily conversations, positive inspo, and connection. So I shut down so that I could tune in. My social detox served me well: New programming, a new team, and new clients beyond my wildest dreams. Some experts tell you, you will lose followers if you don't post daily; it can be true; I lost followers over my nine months of irregular posting/tweeting. But, losing followers is not a sign of your worth. Instead, it allows you to make space and the opportunity to build a community that genuinely aligns with your current chapter of service. Who do you desire to connect with?

There are many benefits to getting clear on how and what you wish to share on social.

I invite you to let go of the pressure and any stress, and
in the Spirit of the Spring Cleaning Season, get out your social mop and bucket, and start detoxing, allowing yourself to be lifted, rejuvenated, and excited to connect to your communities and soon-to-be new followers; in new and inspiring ways!

I share my insights as a Holistic Strategist, but I am certainly not here to tell you what to do!
You might be asking yourself, How is Holistic PR different from traditional business practices?

My version of Holistic PR is based on the fundamentals of:
Holistic Leadership and the overall attributes of the body, mind, and spirit integration. These principles are integrated into your strategic planning and content curation.

Holistic PR sees all dialogue between an organization or business with its audience and clients as a two-way process of appreciation and engagement.

"They," the Industry says the term Holistic PR was born in 2021.
For Pink Dreams, it has been our standard for over ten years.

Spring Social Detox Suggested Cleanse:
1 - Let go of the stigma; you must have a high number of followers to have relevance on social. This pressure often leads to paying for a service to inflate your numbers. Here are my holistic thoughts. Do what is best for you- but are those accounts genuinely interested in your content? How does it serve value?

When I am working with my clients, seeking affiliates and ambassadors, I first check the "back end" of an account to see if the account is paying for a following service. If so, they are no longer on the list for the opportunity for their account is one of "false reach." (Social Reach is the total number of people who see your content).

2 - Clean up your followers/following lists. I am not a fan of those who follow and then unfollow—going through your following will clarify those you wish to engage more with and those who are not providing social "synergy" of showing a mutual interest of engagement to your account. So let go and make room for new!

I am also a big believer in blocking, yes, blocking. Not from a space of anger but to be used as a tool to bring peace. It allows one to stay focused and not be distracted by unnecessary conflict.

3 - You do not need to be "Everything Thing to Everyone One' and On Every Social Platform.
FOMO can make you LOCO! Are your bios and message clear on:
Who You Are
What You Do
How You Serve

Your bio is your calling card; your community invitation for others to join you who are like minds, like interests, or those in need of your services.

Pick the socials that you find inviting, that you naturally enjoy spending time on, and build on those socials. Why lead with you? If there is a genuine interest in spending time on the platform, you will be more apt to create content and engage vs. forcing yourself because you "have to be seen.

Choose what platforms fit your style.

4 - Quality Content over Quantity - See a pattern here? :)
If you are not a dancer - don't dance!
If you don't want to speak in a room, don't speak!

Create content based on your unique talents that tie back to your bio. Take the pressure off; you need to post every day. Instead, consider going back to the fundamentals from Tip #3 and build a plan around your service to others that can be: educational, entertaining, informative, and inspirational!

5 - Have Fun!
Social Media has so many positive attributes that allow us to come together to support, motivate and lift one another. Enjoy the creative process, and YOU share your gifts and services with the world. We need You!
